Hotel Calimala - Florence, Italy: Why Romantic People Love It Here

In this post, we're featuring Hotel Calimala - Florence, Italy.

Hotel Calimala - Florence Italy is a luxurious 4-star boutique hotel that opened its doors to the public on September 2019. It is the second Italian property of Milu Hotel Group and stands on the streets of Centro Storico- home to Rome's famous landmarks such as the Trevi Fountain, the Pantheon, and the Colosseum.

I've written countless reviews from my travels and food destinations and featured on sites like Your Tango and Edible Arrangements. If you're traveling to Florence soon, booking your stay in this state-of-the-art hotel is totally worth it.

What are the tourist attractions that are within walking distance from the hotel?

Hotel Calimala is located in the heart of Florence. Not only do guests at Florence hotels get to enjoy the romantic city view, but they also get to explore all the classic monuments and tourist attractions Florence is known for.

For one, the hotel is situated on Via Calimala- a street that never sleeps and one of Florence's main and oldest avenues. Around the area is a string of craft shops, luxury restaurants, and the best cocktail bars for a fun night out with friends and family. It's also just 10 minutes away from the Santa Maria Novella train station, so getting around isn't a problem.

The boutique hotel's perfect location makes it super convenient for guests to walk down memory lane. You can walk on foot to Piazza Della Repubblica, Piazza Della Signoria, the Duomo of Florence, Florence cathedral, Ponte Vecchio Bridge, Palazzo Vecchio, Strozzi Palace, Piazza Del Duomo, Boboli Gardens, and the infamous Uffizi Gallery.

What facilities do they offer to guests?

This 38-room hotel is housed in the sixteenth-century Palazzo Degli Angeli, well-known as the home of intellectuals. It was renovated by designer and architect Alex Meitlis using authentic materials such as pietra serena, kvadrat textiles, distressed stone walls, and Tuscan marble and decorated with contemporary furniture. Meanwhile, Italian artist Ivo Bisignano designed chiaroscuro rugs for the rooms at the luxury hotel.

You can choose between a Superior Room, Superior Room with a balcony, a deluxe room, a deluxe double room, a comfort room, and a premium room with a balcony. All with their own private bathroom.

Aside from accommodations, the luxury hotel also features a rooftop bar and a restaurant in one, a gym, and wellness treatments directly in your room, on request.

Are there in-house restaurants and night bars?

Yes. This boutique hotel has its very own rooftop bar called the ANGEL Roof Bar and Dining

The ANGEL rooftop has a 360-degree city view of Florence. It hosts a restaurant, two indoor and outdoor bars, a plunge pool, and an incredible floral garden patio designed by Vieri Torrigiani of the Torrigiani Family.

How is the food served at the restaurant?

ANGEL's rooftop terrace restaurant offers Southern-Mediterranean dishes. Angel Roof Bar & Dining menu also includes traditional Italian cuisine made contemporary with international touches and cooked using only fresh ingredients and a real taste of the world.

After dinner, cap off the night with ANGEL's signature curated cocktails, such as Pop Margarita, Bloody Marianna, Afterlife, and No Time To Die.

Are the rooms spacious?

It wouldn't be a luxury hotel without spacious rooms! Designed with elegance and comfort in mind, the hotel rooms feature high ceilings, huge windows, and extensive floor space. They are decorated with exposed stone and tricolor terrazzo floors and modern furnishings embellished with velvet, brass, and marble finishes.

The rooms' floor area varies from 15 to 21 square meters with a capacity of 2 to 3 guests and comes en suite with shower, queen-sized bed, free mini bar, Nespresso coffee machine, wifi, and a 43'' smart TV with international channels.

I mean, you can literally spoil yourself by just staying in one of their rooms.

Do we get good views from the hotel rooms?

Yes. The Hotel Calimala Florence has the most spectacular view Florence can offer! It wouldn't be one of the best hotels in Florence, Italy, without its panoramic city view that you can revere from any room. At night, you get to see the glimmering riverscape of the Arno River.

How is the customer service of the hotel staff?

Aside from being in a perfect location, the hotel also has a 24/7 concierge service and online check-in and check-out system for contactless booking. They also conduct a regular deep cleaning in every room and common area to ensure cleanliness and healthy air circulation.

Would you book your stay again at Hotel Calimala?

Hotel Calimala is worth your bucks! As I said, you can literally spoil yourself by just staying in one of their rooms. Apart from its convenient location, everything you need is already in the hotel- accommodations, a gym, spa treatments, restaurants, and an exclusive rooftop bar. What's not to love?
